Skype’s Stockholm Office Sparks with Contrast

You may already be familiar with Skype’s US offices, which we featured a while back, but have you seen their Stockholm digs yet? Working for a tech company such as Skype, one would expect eclectic interiors. In the case of Skype’s new Stockholm setup, the results don’t disappoint. Colorful designs and fantastic murals line otherwise stark white walls. Comfortable furniture that one might associate more with gaming than telephony accompanies the rainbow approach. Spaces are arranged to serve the various means by which employees work. For instance, some work best with fewer people around; others work best when surrounded by a bustling group of colleagues. Even meeting rooms forgo the dreadful interrogation-room feel and appear in a variety of styles, shapes, colors, and ambiances, appealing to various parts of the creative mind. The kitchen feels like home, and even if there are what appear to be florescent light panels on eh ceilings, they’re placed in quirky patterns or shaded by creative means to provide more ambient lighting. Skype’s Stockhom offices were designed by pS Arkitektur, which offers interior and architectural design, planning, and lighting services from its Stockholm-based offices.

Contemporary Bedrooms from Presotto

Platform beds are the much healthier, far more attractive version yet possibly the trend equivalent of the 1970s waterbed. In fact today’s platform beds are outright artful when originating from certain design firms. Furniture designers are turning them into self-sufficient islands, bachelor-ready suites, floating squares, and textured clouds. Beds like these by Italian Presotto, a modular furniture design firm, offers innumerable combinations of texture, style, and color. The firm uses leather or wood, curvilinear or rectangular headboards, floating squares, or massive furniture pieces that seem self-sufficient with night tables and couch-like platforms.

    Modern Swedish Family Home

We never get tired of these beautiful Swedish homes. Here is another that lies in the heart of the Swedish neighborhood Kungsladugård. This apartment has been renovated multiple times which enables it to have a history which is shown through the various layers of finishes. The renovations still maintained its connection to its 1920′s roots when it was designed by Arvid Fuhre in the style of Governor House.
The Swedish design of using a neutral base and then adding onto this modern detailing such as the furniture and wall coverings is clearly shown throughout the apartment. This apartment was originally designed in order to accommodate large families however it does this without being too ostentatious or overwhelming. The overall effect is of a light and airy space which you could easily see yourself occupying.
